When you are looking for ways to increase website traffic, consider the options of using question and answer websites. After all, you use search engines to answer numerous questions almost every day, so why not turn other websites to your advantage?

There are many websites that invite users to leave questions and for other users to leave replies. The answers can be from more than one person to provide a resource of information to answer the question. Why shouldn’t you be one of those experts?

Who uses question and answer websites?
You do. Everyone does. If you want to find out if the latest tablet computer uses a camera that is of good enough quality to send pictures by email, you might not find the answer easily obtainable on the manufacturer’s website specification list. You will find out if it has a camera or not, but your specific question may go unanswered. That’s your pointer to try a specific question and answer website.

If your search engine question is specific enough, you will find that some of the possible search engine results will include many of the Q&A websites now available for everyone’s use. If you type in question and answer website, the reply will list thousands of websites.

You answer as the expert
By answering questions correctly, you will build your brand as a knowledge base to be relied upon. This will encourage people to click on your link to see who has answered the question which brings you targeted web traffic.

It is better to answer a few questions correctly rather than trying to give half answers to lots of questions. You will have gone to question and answer websites yourself, often as a result of a search engine request. If you found the answers not particularly useful, then you will know how others will feel if you don’t give full and correct answers.

Your value will be higher to website users if the current replies have been poor or incomplete.

If you are going to choose particular questions and answer websites to increase your brand awareness, then choose those with high numbers of internet users to increase your chances of traffic linking back to you.

If you find a topic is of great interest on a Q&A site, you might want to consider writing an article about that exact subject on your blog to help people find you more easily.

Are forums Q&A websites?
Forums are usually subject specific. Whereas most Q&A websites will take questions on anything, forums tend to major on one topic.

For example, one forum might follow Michael Jackson’s career as a singer. The questions posted there should all be linked to the man’s life, his music and probably his family. If you sell guitars, you might like to contribute a question or answer relating to guitarists who played on his albums. A simple link to your website might bring people looking to see how much guitars cost if they wish to learn and play Michael Jackson’s music.

Forums like well researched and quality answers to questions placed by members. You will probably need to sign up at the forum to be able to raise topics and answer comments, so you will need to restrict yourself to the number of websites you can manage efficiently with a constant flow of new comments, questions and answers.

Using more than one web traffic plan
You won’t bring all the targeted website traffic you need from one single source, so using question and answer websites and forums won’t attract all the readers you’ll need, but they should form a part of your overall marketing strategy. In time you will find out which works best for you and which need dropping because they waste your time.

Writing a post for a website you don’t run or own is called guest posting. Guesting a post on someone else’s blog allows you to increase your blog’s exposure as you record your bye-line – the information showing where you can usually be found.

There are two main reasons why you should place a guest post on another website’s blog. First; it gets your name known around other similar blogs and websites. Second; it helps search engines find your name more often which will in turn bring you an increase in website traffic. Here’s the best way to go about guest blogging.

A reciprocal arrangement
You should not just consider adding your guest blog to other websites. You need to judge the advantages of allowing others to guest blog on your website to bring you additional targeted web traffic.

If you link with a well known blogger, the substantial following from their blog, their Facebook, Twitter and Google+ accounts, will pursue their regular writer to your pages.

This helps you spread your brand to other websites. If you have completed your market analysis and found suitably linked blogs to work with, you won’t be wasting your time writing an article that is of great interest to the readers where you’ve guest posted. If you choose to ghost blog anywhere, you’ll soon see your efforts fall away as few people will leave comments or link back to your website because the interest level won’t be there however superior your article writing skills are.

How do I start guest blogging?
If you’re new to this, you may find it hard to talk other bloggers into taking a guest post from you. After all, they have more to offer than you so why should they bother to show interest knowing that if they reciprocate, there won’t be many people linking back to their blog?

You will need to make some personal connections to help you find websites that will take a guest blog from you. This might be through the people you already know in your industry, or simply with people who have busy blogs that aren’t necessarily related to your line of business. While this appears counterproductive, if you can show that a good blog has allowed you to ghost blog and others will show more interest in your offer.

You will need to create a convincing marketing message to include in your bye-line, to convince readers to click and find out more about you and your website.

Don’t get discouraged if bloggers say no to you. It’s only one step closer to someone who will say yes.

The better placed websites will receive many requests, probably every single day. It will be better if you are more realistic in your early stages until you are big enough to be bold enough to write for the principal websites.

What should you write?
You will need to write your sales pitch first. This will list the excellent reasons why the website should host your guest blog. You’ll need to find some great reasons why the other website should want to use your article on their website. You should point out their benefits, not list how you would benefit.

The writing should be excellent with great grammar and first class spelling. Bloggers won’t want to have to edit your work before they can place it on their website.

Your article must be an individual piece that doesn’t appear anywhere else. It needs to be a one-off piece that will appear as a showcase to your website.

In return, make it easy for people to write for your website by suggesting articles and content. You can show them your web traffic data and the levels of interest shown from your social followers.

Whether you are a newbie or an experienced website writer, you will have heard all about keyword research and the need to get it right to increase your website traffic. The problem with keyword research is knowing how the search engines react to the way you stuff your articles with keywords to try to acquire page one status.

Does the keyword sound right to you?
No doubt you’ve listed the many possible keywords you believe should be associated to your website. These are the words you know you should use time and time again so those pesky search engines can trawl your website and find your articles filled with keywords. Those engines will then reward your hard work by placing your website on the first page of anyone’s search.

If you haven’t used specific software to explore the options, then how do you know if your choice of words is correct? Will your words bring you guaranteed website traffic?

The first test is to see if the keywords you have listed are really relevant for the content on your site. If you’ve used a famous celebrity’s name four or five times in an article, then your website might reach the dizzy heights of a page one ranking, but if you are selling stapling machines and staples, there won’t be many people likely to click on the search page to visit your website, unless they specifically find a sudden urge to purchase new staples.

You need to decide if the words you intend to use will bring your website reasonable financial rewards either directly or indirectly.

Play the search engines at their own game
Try entering your own choices of keywords in various search engines– use several to check their efficiency – to see what results they bring up.

If plenty of paid advertisements or promoted search engine results arrive, then you know that your choice of words is good.

Also, if your choice of search keywords brings up lots of websites that fall exactly in line with your own, you will know your choice of words is correct.

However, if you are shown pages upon pages of websites that bear no direct relationship to your own, your keywords are most certainly wrong and you either need to think again about selecting the relevant words or turning to software designed to do the job for you.

Using keyword software
While you believe which words are best suited for your search engine optimisation marketing plan, the words a customer chooses to use to search for your type of blog or business may be entirely different. This is where is pays to use software devoted to the task to help guide you to the best choice of keywords.

You may know industry jargon and suggest those phrases to be your best words, but to the customer who is searching for you, their selection of words can differ greatly.

By making a friend of keyword research tools you will increase your targeted web traffic. Use the search engines to explore the various options offered not only by Google, but many others, to help you find the right combinations to bring customers to your door.

Amalgamation
Bring together a collection of your keywords to source the best results for you:

From your own brainstorming

From checking your competitors main website pages for words used and repeated

From using software so computers can work hard to provide you with intelligent results

You should revisit your keywords regularly to see if you can increase website traffic and determine if the search engines have changed their rules making you change the impact and regular usage of keywords and buy web traffic to secure the visitors you require.

If you’re a regularly user of blogs, Facebook, Twitter and Google+ or read newspapers online you will have seen comments people leave after the article or short sentence. Some are useful, some are poor. Some are spammers trying to gain rewards in the manner that spammers do, but if you want to find a good way to bring targeted web traffic to your website, leaving your own comments can prove a useful marketing tool.

Often a comment will stand out. You will either greatly disagree or fondly agree with the words they have written. It leads to the start of a conversation that can go back and forth until you find it time to move on with your life.

To bring targeted web traffic to your website, leaving comments that allow people to click once to visit your website to see what else you have to say is a great marketing tool.

Comments on your website
When people comment on your website, think of your reply as a marketing tool. Even if the people leave negative comments, you can still leave positive comments. You might like to agree to disagree, but ensure you write in a friendly manner and don’t ever risk losing your image – your brand – or your following, by being rude and destructive. People have different thoughts and it doesn’t make everyone right all of the time.

You need to be consistent with your replies otherwise some clever readers will catch you out.

What about the comments you leave?
Consistency is also the rule that will help your branding and targeted web traffic with comments you leave on your own website to reply to other comments or elsewhere on other websites where you reply to other comments.

By using the same bye-line regularly, people will quickly see your name and brand and know what to expect from you. Readers will learn about your brand by the types of comments you leave.

One quick way to kill your branding and resourcefulness with comments is by filling your comments with keywords and spamming rather than having a normal conversation. It’s good to leave information about your brand in your bye-line, but don’t hard sell your website in the comments area or customers will quickly lose interest in reading anything you write as they know you’re only there to try and sell something.

If the conversation is about shoes, you could mention shoes in your comments and then refer to a brand you sell because this is not a direct sales opportunity, but a fair comment in reply to someone’s comment. If they’re talking about shoes and you sell motorbikes, the link isn’t so obvious and will probably look like spam.

Linking back to your website
It is good to offer people a method to click once to go to your website after reading your comments. Most comments boxes allow you to enter your website URL after adding your email address, which won’t be seen by readers. That is sufficient to have attracted a potential customer to your website.

It is particularly poor practice to mention a direct link to a specific page on your website unless it really is the only option to show and prove the comments you are making.

Do be conscious of the name you use when commenting and the URL(s) you point back to. Consistency matters, particularly on naming, and linking to your internal website pages or using a name that’s clearly made for keyword-spamming rather than true conversation. It will kill your efforts before they begin.

Writing comments won’t bring you guaranteed website traffic, but it helps select visitors you might not have found elsewhere.

There are literally hundreds of different methods used to monetize paid traffic from simple landing pages using targeted visits and a strong call to action to huge e-commerce sites earning $X,XXX per day. We take a look at some of the most popular techniques used by some of our bigger clients.

If only it was that easy

Adsense
Very popular choice in creating a profit from your website, Adsense lets other webmasters promote their site on your page. If a person visiting your site clicks on one of their ads (text or image) you earn some cash, this can be anywhere from a few cents to over $20 (rare but it happens!). In order to succeed with Adsense your websites layout must be well thought out and easy to change as you will have to split test different layouts and ad positions to gain a high click through rate. This process usually takes months but for our clients who prefer to buy web traffic it can take less than 30 days in some cases.

Amazon
Earning commission from selling someone else’s product is one of the easiest ways to earn money online. You don’t need to rely on having a website with unique content and worrying about ad placements, All you need is website with as many Amazon products linked as possible. Earning money with Amazon is relatively easy, even for those who do not have much experience with creating profitable sites. The basic principle is you create a link using your affiliate code to an Amazon product and when someone visiting your site clicks on this link and either buys it via your shopping card or Amazons you earn a percentage of that sale or anything they buy at Amazon. Setting up a full blown store has never been so easy with free content management systems like wordpress you can have a e-store set up within one day easily! Some of our biggest clients use Amazon to constantly turn a profit, focus on what sells and where then buy web traffic and start earning. Remember to do as much research as possible products as our traffic can be geo targeted and niche specific!

Opt Ins – CPA - Zip Submits
A little more advanced that the other two methods but not to be taken lightly. Building Email lists or getting surfers to fill out CPA offers and zip submits may not sound exciting but these methods are very profitable once you have your converion ratio nailed. The key to success here seems to be using offers that are popular and taking into account where they are popular. Our clients use tools like quantcast to target their visits and give them the advantage to succeed. This method is the cheapest to get started with as all you need to do is find the right traffic. For those relying on building email lists make sure your landing page is eye catching – huge large fonts and if possible a strong call of action – make it as easy as possible for them to enter that email.

These are just a handful of the methods our regular clients use to make money – the key is to never give up and always try to stay ahead of your competition!

To run a successful website you need two things, Determination and a regular flow in traffic.

To run a successful website you need two things, Determination and a regular flow in traffic. Not just any traffic, There is no point in posting your website on sites that have no relevance to what your offering. You want only high quality targeted traffic.

Attracting the right sort of visitor takes planning and hard work. This step is where the majority of new comers to internet marketing give up. It can seem like a lifetime when you are working away promoting your website for weeks on end only to see a few cents earned via adsense, amazon or other monetization methods. Then there’s the heartbreaking moment when you’ve battled your way to the top 3 positions only to be dropped by another Google panda / penguin update and a forced to start again.

For those who are dedicated enough to continue working on their website the rewards can be massive and for a select few life changing.

There are many different methods used to attract relevant visits – diversity is key

Advertising – Similar sites, forums

Directories – DMOZ, Yahoo!

Forum Posting – No spam, useful threads and posts only

Paid Traffic – Adwords, Facebook, Traffic Masters

Search Engine Optimization – both on and off-site

Social Bookmarking – bookmark new posts and pages

Social Media – Huge resource

Youtube – Create videos, comment on others

These are the main methods webmasters use to generate regular traffic, its best practice to focus a little on each method. This ensures your website has a healthy diversity of incoming links which will raise your sites position in search engines and attract targeted visits improving your chance of success.

Advertising
Depending on your situation this method might have to be used at a later date, once your website has started to turn a profit and is self funding. For those who have the budget to jump into advertising, great!. This is a very successful way to promote your site but choosing the correct website to advertise on takes time. You should create a list of similar sites and forums in your niche then start to compare statistics. All legitimate websites offering paid advertising should provide you with genuine Google analytic stats or at the very least AWstats. With this data you can work out how to get the most for your money.

Directories
Submitting websites to internet directories is one of the oldest methods in SEO, although the links dont hold as much weight as they used to, its still highly recommended that you get your website listed. This helps increase your SERPS and increase the chance of gaining some targeted traffic. Be careful however, over the years the internet directory niche has exploded with shady webmasters looking to make a quick buck, check out our post on working out if paid back-links are worth it.

Forum Posting
This can take time to see any major results but trust us, if you can gain a respected reputation in a major forum in your websites niche this puts you in a great place. You can immediately attract new visits using your Signature or Avatar. Being active and helpful can show people that you are serious about the niche you are in which will help gain trust within the community. You may also be able to get a discount on advertising on the forum if your reputation exceeds you! Be careful not to spam or annoy members by constantly posting your service or website

Paid Traffic
This is the method that can bring huge rewards, once you have your conversion ratio worked out you can start to buy web traffic in bulk and explode your earnings. This however does not happen overnight, it can take months of tweaking your campaign to get the best ROI and even then the offer or product you are advertising may expire. There are various different networks that offer gauranteed website traffic and all have there advantages and disadvantages.

Adwords – Google have a monster of an advertising platform that has been around for years. You bid on keywords and if your bid is the highest your ad gets displayed. Adwords is one of the best sources of paid traffic but the most expensive, the people using google are looking for something, all you need to do is provide it on the upper right hand of their search page and you’ve got yourself targeted traffic.

Facebook - New to the scene but a heavy hitter, Facebook does not rely on keywords like Google. They let you target which type of person you want to show your ad to then you place a bid on that visitor, again the highest bidder gets his or her ad shown. A great network for building opt in lists with but I find it not great for selling unless your product as strong USP.

Traffic Masters - We try to provide a service that is both high quality, reliable and cost efficient. We don’t have a keyword bidding system or bid by target system. We have a set price for our visitors no matter what location or niche. When you buy web traffic from us we place your website as a full paged pop under on highly relevant, popular websites in the category and location you selected.

Social Media
Playing a ever more important part in internet marketing Facebook and Twitter have become gold mines in terms of gaining fast targeted visits. This sort of traffic is exciting because with the right sort of marketing your website can go viral and get millions of hits. This is what webmasters dreams are made out of, but as with paid traffic it takes time and practice. Take care not to annoy or offend your followers and fans by posting annoying announcements about your website / service. Remember Facebook and Twitter are social networks, people are there to interact and share thoughts and feelings not read price lists or features about your product / website.

There are groups set up in thousands of different niches and with the ability to build up fan pages and with practice make them go viral gaining free targeted traffic has never been so easy.

There are several reasons why webmasters choose to buy targeted web traffic instead of relying on organic traffic via search engine optimization. One of the main advantages is being able to set up a brand new website and start turning a profit within 24 hours.

This sort of timescale is just not available to those who prefer to drive traffic via search engines, it can take weeks to get pages indexed and then you have to work on making sure your content is optimized for search engines and has enough unique, regular updates to keep the spiders visiting and indexing more and more of your pages which helps raise the rank of certain targeted keywords and phrases.

With paid traffic you have the ability to drive a large amounts of targeted hits to your website or landing page before the site is even indexed. Targeted traffic greatly increases your websites chances of success as the person who is visiting your page is interested in its subject and is from the correct location. That is one of the biggest advantages of paid traffic, for example if you had a Golf e-store in America then you would want American visitors who love golf and that’s where traffic masters come in.

We have a huge database of very popular websites that allow us to display our clients websites on very popular sites that are similar in category and location. This lets you focus on tracking and tweaking your site to start turning a profit, possibly the most important factor when buying web traffic.

Tracking can be a daunting task for those who have not had much experience, but fear not there are several programs and applications that help make this process more straight forward and easy to understand. We recommend using Propser202 which is a free self hosted application that is easy to install and compatible with most traffic sources (paid, organic).

Tracking Campaigns - Very Important

Once your website is turning a profit its time to scale everything up, most of our clients start this process by buying traffic in bulk and placing half their profits into white-hat search engine optimization in order to gain a larger audience and start to pull targeted organic search engine visits. By this point your site should be worth a fair amount, some clients like to flip them on auction type sites and start all over again, others prefer to build up a nice network of passive earning sites like amazon e-stores, click bank promos and Adsense niche sites.

Experts suggest that it’s easier to learn from looking at a picture, an illustration or a video, rather reading from text. Children are taught this way and such giants as PowerPoint presentations didn’t become professional productions by accident. If you wish to increase website traffic, using media other than plain text will ensure your readers stay longer on your website.

You Like To Watch Video?
Act like you are your own customer. If you visit a website or a blog, it is likely to be much more attractive if it includes a video or two if it’s the latest sports news or a graph illustrating the current price of sterling against the dollar if you are looking to buy currency as an investment.

Twitter works well within the allotted 140 characters, but don’t you like to click on pictures if someone has included one? It often explains what the writer was trying to convey.

All of these actions you like to take yourself are ways you can bring targeted website traffic to your blog or website.

It’s Easier To See The Picture Than Read The Words
Your own experiences will have proved to you that you learn more from looking at a picture than reading the text below. If you can take your own photographs and produce simple graphics you already have the talent to enhance your website.

When you are looking to improve the activity and enjoyment of your website visitors you can purchase images with basic licensing requirements for placing in your articles and blogs. These can often be free or low-cost.

If the license allows, you can build traffic to your website by requiring people to post a link to your website when they borrow any of your own images.

While some people may use your images without telling you, good use of search engines will find your images and allow you to suggest to the borrower, that they add a link to your website.

Add Video To Your Landing Page
Many people use a video on their website landing page – the first page a visitor sees when they find your homepage via a search engine. Some website owners suggest the video requires a click before starting while opposition suggests the video should start automatically when people arrive at the page.

By trawling through YouTube you might find content already suitable for your website. If not, there is plenty of free software that can aid your compilation of a simple video that explains your products, services or profession.

The video must tell the customer something they are interested in learning and of course it must be totally relevant for your website. Quality videos will improve your readership conversions and will help your website get found on search engines.

Visitors are more likely to share, or pass on, with their friends a video that explains your blog or service, rather than passing on full pages of text.

Within the world of Twitter and Facebook, pictures – images - passed on quickly and efficiently often with a single click, will ensure your videos and images can be passed on to other social networks with a single click from your website. You will make it easy for your visitors to draw traffic directly to you.

While you are not expected to be a Hollywood director, it is not difficult to make a reasonable video acceptable for most websites. However, a poorly produced video will strike against your visitor’s expectations. It is better not to have a video than to show a very poor effort. Wait until your budget is sufficient to employ a company to make a video for you which will increase your website traffic.

You can increase your targeted web traffic by making your business website or blog search engine optimised making it straightforward for visitors to find you easily. This is called being SEO friendly.

Most people will find your website by one of two main methods. Either they will have clicked on a link from Twitter or Facebook after a recommendation that interests the reader, or they will have found you after using a search engine.

What Is SEO Friendly?
First, you should be clear that despite any rumours suggesting the opposite, SEO writing is not bad, or poor writing. It is important that your writing for your website or blog is very good. That is the first rule about writing with SEO in mind.

Second, to help your search engine optimisation, your keywords should appear in your headline and in your first paragraph. This helps the search engines find your page when people search for certain phrases.

You will see better results if the conclusion of your article or information appears in the first paragraph. This helps search engines find the right information people are looking for.

Keeping Your Website SEO Friendly
Using SEO for your blog posts or website articles can be easy and straightforward to set up. If you’re using WordPress or Google’s Blogger for blogging, it’s a simple process of inserting the right words effectively over the course of your work.

You must not overstock your first and later paragraphs with SEO friendly words otherwise the search engines will believe you’ve tried to trick their system, so play fair and be reasonable. Otherwise, you might not appear in the search results at all.

You should write your content in a manner that is enjoyed by your readers. This will be dictated by the type of reader you are trying to attract. For example, if you wanted to sell University courses to your readers, you wouldn’t choose to write in a child’s style for ten year olds.

Staying Ahead Of Your Competitors
You can buy web traffic and you can manage your SEO efficiently to ensure your work remains consistently accurate and within the guidelines of the search engines.

While most people use Google as their preferred search engine, many individuals use a number of other sources, often those where the software is automatically added to the computer or mobile phone. It’s important to check all the main engine’s rules to see that you apply correctly across the board, ensuring your work can receive constant attention and not be cut out of search results because you fell foul of the rules.

You can take advantage of bringing traffic to your website by offering tremendous value. Unfortunately, most people are not experts in all areas of business. This might lead you to employ a writer for your article content, or an expert in SEO to ensure your articles match the friendliness of, yet expertly written, content.

Make It Easy For Google And Others To Find You
If you create your own style of writing, as opposed to trying to copy others, Google and the other sources of collection will prefer your website, because it is unique. Too often, content is stolen or re-written from other websites, leaving many sentences completely intact. This will be noticed and push your website from the top ranking down many pages, ensuring most readers will not even find you, let alone know about you.

On opening your web page or blog, if a person can quickly tell what your keywords are, you have probably included them too many times or you have given too much emphasis to them.
You are writing for your reader, not just for the search engines. Don’t chance becoming SEO unfriendly.

We all know the importance of receiving one-way back links, especially links from sources that have a higher PR than yourself and are related to your websites niche. The problem is finding these links, it’s not easy as most webmasters dont want to share links to sites they are unfamiliar with, especially after the latest changes from Google.

Googles latest change looks at the neighborhood your website is associated with, This means the relevancy and quality of your back links have never been so important. A year ago most people would tell you to focus on gaining as much link juice as possible by backlinking to anything with a remote bit of page rank. This pokemon “gotta catch em all” mentalitiy has landed a lot of webmasters in hot water with the dreaded “unnatural links detected” message being left in thousands of admin inboxes

So to combat this and gain an increase in SERPS post panda / penguin you must focus on QUALITY. 50 back links from websites related to your niche is worth more than 1000 back links which are totally unrelated. Googles algorithm can now read the body of text your anchor keyword is surrounded in and make a pretty good estimate if that link is spam or legitimate.

One way of ensuring your back link is both relevant and from a high PR page is by submitting your website to web directories. At first glance web directories sound very appealing, they are usually well trusted by search engines due to their age and lack of page wide spam but they do not come without their own set of problems. Their are a lot of sneaky webmasters out there that have snapped by high PR domains at auction sites and thrown up directory plugins which let them accept website URLS into different categories in exchange for cash.

Finding thats directory worth your money
The million dollar question, easily answered when it comes to some of the major players in the web directory world. Paying Yahoo $300 to review your submission is expensive but I dont think you need me to tell you that that link will be well worth it when google crawls it. Lets look at the other web directories that are a little less known.

When viewing a web directory I check a few things to make sure its legitimate and has not partaken in any sort of dodgy activites that might make my site look back once my link has been firmly placed in its database

1.Does the directory look well kept?
This can be tricky to tell, a lot of web directories look dated and that’s because they usually are, they serve one purpose and that’s to easily list websites in relevant categories making it easy for search spiders to find them and rate them. What I would do is check websites are inside there correct category, make sure there are no duplicate submissions.

2.How many ads do they have?
There is nothing wrong with one maybe two adverts but when a web directory has 5 adverts and the majority are above the fold this should start ringing alarm bells. Web directories main form of income is from payed reviews. If the web directory is successful they will get a regular amount of traffic and a regular income meaning they do not need to rely on advertisements, If you spot more than two adverts I would be wary about parting with my money for a back link, they obviously are not making much from being a web directory.

3.How does their backlinking look?
Your backlink profile paints a thousands words, I always check a websites backlink profile to make sure they have been playing well with Google’s guidelines. After all whats the point in sourcing a $100 one way high PR backlink only to find out the site your link as been placed on have been spamming blog comments and in return have been penalized by Google.

Using the Alexa.com toolbar to analyze backlinks

4. What does Blekko say about them?
Not many people know about Blekko, its a wonderful search engine that has important tools for people wishing to do some SEO. Head over to Blekko and enter the directory URL followed by /seo. This lets you check the location of the links on there site, if your website is based in USA it would be good to be part of a web directory that as 75%+ USA websites linked inside

Blekko.com /SEO

This is especially important when running a local SEO campaign, you can breakdown possible link sources by which state they are most popular in! Let us look at /sitepages now

Blekko lets us monitor the flow of link juice

As you can clearly see here, on this web diretory all the link juice is held on the homepage and greatly reduced as you work your way down the different categories. This is a very important tool that lets us work out if a potential link will have much weight .

5. Google search for review
An oldie but still important, Google the web directory name followed by “review” this should help gauge the general feedback and help you decide if dropping the money is worth it.

Remember paid links are technically not allowed by Google but they understand that you cant expect a huge web directory to manually review submissions for free.
